Beauty from the Inside Out

November 15, 2012

The Aquinas College Office of Alumni Relations’ Beauty from the Inside Out class at Room In The Inn is now in its third week. This course teaches the art of confidence, leadership, and positivity, with Christian-based life choice counseling, to vulnerable women looking to cultivate a new lifestyle while recovering from homelessness, abuse, or chemical dependence. The goal of this course is to help these women see, feel, and live their inherent worth, to help them find their own voice and to realize their unique beauty—from the inside out.

This week our class of twenty-eight shared a card making art project, as the holidays can be an especially difficult time for these ladies. By means of stickers, paper, embellishments, and rubber stamps, the women opened up about the special people that they held close to their hearts. At the end of the class a few of the women asked to take a picture while proudly and joyfully holding up the cards they had created. Ten copies of each card with envelopes and postage will be given to the ladies at our next class so they may get them in the mail for Christmas. We meet on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. and have 17 classes remaining, volunteers are encouraged to join these women on their journey.

This is a great opportunity for Aquinas alumni to engage and enrich the wider community. If you are interested in contributing or participating, please contact Rachel Leach, Director of Alumni Relations, at leachr@aquinascollege.edu.

We would also greatly appreciate your prayers since these women need the strength that only prayer can give.
